Attack on the way - Novel chapter Cover

Chapter cover for a novel, the story is a historical fiction. The scene takes place in France in the 1720s.
I tried to use a Gustave Doré style, which he used to illustrate Perrault's tales.
I carried out numerous tests before finding the right rhythm and the right patterns for the hatching.
